IVM's director manages the institute and is - together with the department heads - responsible for the scientific, financial, educational and personnel policy. Together with the other seven institute directors within FALW he/she advises the Faculty Board on its policy.
The director should hold a PhD in a discipline relevant for environmental research, have a track record in multidisciplinary research and affinity with research approaches in both social and natural sciences. The director should also be an inspiring personality, have a strong desire to contribute to sustainable development and the rehabilitation and preservation of the environment, and have excellent management and communication skills. He/she should have - or should be able to rapidly acquire - knowledge about Dutch and European research funding possibilities and on the Dutch university management system.
The director will be appointed as full professor in the Faculty of Earth and Life Sciences.
The gross annual salary will depend on experience and qualifications, maximum scale 18 (max. EUR 103 950).
