The agronomist will be specifically responsible for :
Technical Support
The candidate has proven qualification and expertise in one or more of the following sectors: Agriculture, Agro-forestry, Agro-business.
Additional qualifications in nutrition, food security, income generation, community mobilization, women empowerment, anti-desertification would be an advantage.
He/ she supports the team in Baghdad from a technical point of few at all stages of the project management cycle (development, proposal, implementation, procurement, reporting, evaluation)
He/ she trains PU staff, partners and community members in technical skills.
He/ she coordinates and assists other stakeholders including UN agencies and NGO’s from a technical point of view of the projects.
Logistic supervision and Procurement
He/ she ensures that all relevant procedures (PU, donors) for the procurement are respected.
He/ she validates procurement contracts.
He/ she ensures that the physical inventory is updated on a regular basis (supervision of the logistician in Baghdad).
He/ she establishes and supervises the archives of the programme documents.
Programme Supervision
Under the supervision of the Head of Mission, the agronomist is responsible for the implementation of the programmes according to the project contract and ensures that all donor rules and regulations are respected.
The development of tools and formats to follow-up the projects and measure impact and vulnerabilities.
Ensuring that all necessary documents for reporting and audit are forwarded in a complete and accurate manner from Iraq to Amman and Paris.
Programme Development
The agronomist will participate in developing the capacities of PU’s Iraq mission. He can also support other PU missions in the region with his technical expertis and advice.
He/ she is working closely with the responsible officers in France on developing regional programmes and interventions.
Skills and experiences
• Knowledge of Middle Eastern politics and the Iraqi context.
• Relevant degree in Agriculture with basic knowledge of WATSAN, and Nutrition.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in relevant fields.
• Willingness to travel and work in Iraq according to security.
• Strong participatory and capacity building skills.
• Ability to manage projects and staff remotely in case of lack of access to project areas.
• Experience in logistics is an advantage.

Conditions
Fixed-term contract (6 months) after test period • All expenses generated in the context of the mission are taken care of by Première Urgence • We pay for the costs of movements, housing, living on site / in the field, social security, complementary health, repatriation insurance.
