Our projects in Madagascar started in June 2009 and have focused on the coastal areas of the Diana province, with a field office in Antsiranana :
• Endangered marine species research (sea turtles, dugongs)
• Small scale fisheries management
• Mitigation of by-catch of endangered marine species through community financial incentives
• Social marketing initiatives focusing on threatened marine species & habitats
• Support for University students in technical training and thesis research
This is an ideal position for an early-mid career conservation professional with experience working in the non-profit sector to develop our programme independently,
levering donor funds and independently expanding our current portfolio of projects throughout northern Madagascar. The post is based at our office in Antananarivo and involves travel to Egypt for a 3-month training period as well as visits to field sites to
monitor and evaluate projects.
Duties :
• Grant-writing and securing funding for programme expansion
• Liaising with donors in Madagascar and overseas
• Working with field teams to coordinate, evaluate and monitor projects
• Publicity via social media, newspapers and international press
• Assisting in planning workshops and conferences
• Presenting at national and international meetings
Benefits :
Salary will be dependent on experience (range : 450,000-800,000MGA)
The Programme Coordinator will benefit from a three-month intensive staff training period conducted by supporting NGO, Community Centred Conservation (C3) in Egypt. The candidate will gain specific skills in project management including budgeting, accounting, review and production of research, awareness and media outputs, research into new project locations and partnerships, recruitment and training of staff and creating competitive strategies for programmatic and institutional development.

Requirements :
• Postgraduate degree in relevant subject (environmental or biological science/geography)
• Experience working in the non-profit conservation sector
• Proven grant writing experience
• Excellent communication skills; oral and written (Malagasy, English, French)
• Excellent presentation and networking skills
• Ability to work independently to deadlines
• Report-writing skills
