The mission of the DEPA (Water, Environment, Processes & Analyses) department is to provide solutions to societal challenges in the field of water resource management and the environmental impacts of human activities on the geosphere. In connection with the scientific programme directors (Management of mining and industrial IMPACTS on the soil and subsoil, Mineral resources and circular ECOnomy, Energy transition and Underground Area), this position will contribute to the R&D, public policy support and commercial activities in France and internationally of the DEPA/MG2 unit.
You will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Designing and carrying out complex experiments involving solid/liquid/gas equilibria in anoxic conditions (flow/high pressure)
- Carrying out predictive geochemical modelling to design these experiments
- Comparing the experimental results with the modelling in order to improve understanding of the mechanisms involved and to be able to extrapolate them in time and space
- Developing innovative approaches in technological/conceptual breakthroughs within the team's multidisciplinary projects or themes
- Develop and maintain your national/international network of partners to initiate research projects (regional, national and European) and in support of public policies in relation to the themes described above and actively contribute to their implementation;
- Promoting the results in the form of scientific publications, patents as well as participating in conferences (national and/or international) and writing reports.

Formation : PHD degree
Expérience : 5 - 10 ans
Your skills and qualities are:
- Very good knowledge of geochemistry and mineral characterisation
- Skills in geochemical modelling and ease of use of Phreeqc and/or reactive transport tools
- Skills in carrying out glove box experiments would be a plus
- Skills in mineralogical characterisation techniques relating to element speciation (e.g. FeII/FeIII ratio on solids) and knowledge of associated preservation techniques
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team; (experimenters, modellers, mineralogists, physico-chemists of interfaces, electro-chemists, digitisers, etc.)
- Spirit of initiative
- Ability to be autonomous in the organisation of daily work but also to integrate into a multidisciplinary team
- Communication skills, good interpersonal skills whatever the size of the group (internal or customer)
- Fluency in English (read, written, spoken).
