The offer of the student training of the Master level in "Multisatellite study of hydrological regime of arctic watersheds".
In the frame of preparation of the new hydrological mission SWOT, we study the variability of the water storage in the wetlands of the Western Siberian plain. In the boreal zone the wetlands store the huge amount of waters. This storage varies seasonally affecting the river runoff. The passive microwave satellite missions (SMOS) can provide the estimation of the extent of wetland surface, while the altimetric missions ( TOPEX/Poseidon, ENVISAT) give the estimation of water height. Over the siberian wetlands the altimetric height retrievals show the clear seasonal variation. The combination of the satellite products of water extent and water level can give us the estimation of water storage variability at the scale of river basins. The comparison of this estimation with water storage from gravimetric mission GRACE will allow the validation of our approach.
