About the role
The purpose of the role is to support the delivery of ClientEarth’s broad, complex and innovative European litigation portfolio, which includes cases from its climate, energy, oceans, harmful chemicals, clean air and environmental democracy teams. The lawyer will act as an expert litigation practitioner and advisor to the teams in the development and delivery of the organisation’s litigation strategies and cases, provide objective analysis of scoped claims and support the delivery of projects designed to develop and improve the organisation’s resilience to protect against damaging SLAPP (Strategic Litigation against Public Participation) suits. They will focus in particular on strategies based on EU law, and for this reason, we are looking for a real expert on EU law and, preferably, EU judicial procedures and processes.
Role requirements
The successful candidate will have a professional legal qualification from at least one EU country. They must have sound knowledge and expertise relevant to the area of work and to public policy, litigation and or public interest law practice, as well as an interest and understanding of climate, energy, pollution and/or nature conservation related issues.
Further Information
This role is for an initial contract of 12 months with a strong likelihood of being made permanent.
