Teams play a great role in collecting, separating, dismantling, recycling and contribute to the valorisation and distribution of new resources by providing specialized services to industrial customers.

The Boone Comenor Metalimpex company, which belongs to Suez Recycling and Waste Valorisation, specialized in ferrous and non-ferrous scrap recycling, is looking, for its subsidiary in Spain, Metalimpex Iberica, a:

Health Safety and Environment Coordinator (M/F)

The position is set at Metalimpex Iberica headquarters, located in Magaz de Pisuerga (Castilla y León).

Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Health Safety and Environment Coordinator will provide clear leadership for developing Health, Safety and Environmental standards, and ensuring that they are embedded within Metalimpex Iberica.

His/her main missions will be:

A/ Plan
• Ensure rules and regulations compliance in respect of quality, hygiene, safety and environment
• Evaluate the risks inherent to the projects
• Update risk assessment record and environmental analysis of the various yards
• Support Operations Manager by establishing QHSE investments budgets:propose means (CAPEX/OPEX) or resources to devote to identified risks management
• Assist team leaders and support functions in prevention plans preparation
• Assist HR department in the establishment of the annual training plan regarding HSE training courses
• Support all departments by identifying areas of improvement and propose solutions in terms of HSE risks management
• Define and update the annual planning of HSE preventive activities

B/ Do
• Help team leaders and support functions on their QHSE issues and ensure requirements’ deployment
• Assist Management during institutional bodies’ visits and may propose adapted written reply
• Build awareness of employees and external contractors towards applicable QHSE procedures
• Carrying out the health and safety coordination tasks of the subcontracted companies
• Lead an appropriate internal communication (displaying, flash, meetings etc…)
• Update health, safety and environmental documentation
• Help team leaders implement HSE training
• Lead incident analysis, write incident flash and support action plans implementation
• Proceed to work accident declaration (including through ACCILINE) and perform root cause analysis
• Manage regulatory monitoring
• Train teams in some aspects of health, safety and environmental and application of procedures (ex: chemical products)
• Pool and share good practices to improve operational performance
• Work proactively with all Managers, Supervisors and Employees, to maintain a program of continual improvement within their areas of responsibility
• Communicate appropriate information to BCM Group QHSE Department
• Encourage dangerous situations’ communication

C/ Check and Act
• Manage QHSE visits on yards to make sure that rules and regulations are respected, BCM Group requirements are taken into account and preventive and corrective improvement action plans are implemented
• Update safety & environment indicators for Metalimpex Iberica and follow HSE scoreboard
• Implement compulsory periodic inspections (ex : waste water or noise analysis, etc…)
• Follow up environmental authorizations and requirements
• Prepare and convey the Biannual report on environmental aspects to government entities
• Ensure that all necessary systems and procedures are in place to satisfy all customer requirements and audits
• Ensure that all procedures are updated, revised and modified to meet the needs of external certification bodies
• Assist the Quality Coordinator and the Management in the achievement of the Management Review
• Assist the managers in the establishment of contract reviews and proceed to operational checks during field visits

The Health Safety and Environment Coordinator will have to cooperate closely with the Quality Coordinator and must be able to take over his/her perimeter in case of absence.

Profil recherché

The Health Safety and Environment Coordinator will also have the following qualifications and aptitudes:

Education: Engineering degree in QHSE area

Solid experience in safety and environmental fields in industrial companies rapidly changing and preferably in an international environment

Knowledge of ISO 9001-14001/OHSAS 18001 standards

Knowledge of rules and regulation related to Safety and Environment

Ability to perform internal audits

Interpersonal and communication skills

Excellent organizational and follow-up skills

Competent in problem solving, team building, planning and decision making

Rigor and independence, strong adaptability

Fluent English and Spanish (spoken and written)
