Business Development Manager, South Europe H/F

UL Renewables, through its branches DEWI and AWS Truepower, is a global organization of 500 independent experts in the field of renewable energy, especially wind and solar, that has been engaged in this industry for more than 30 years.

We are active during all the lifecycle of a project from the early stage of development until the analysis of the farm lifetime extension or repowering. UL has the particularity to be working both on the project side but also on the component side in the same way. We are as well following all the lifecycle of the wind turbines and PV systems, from the design analysis through the testing and their complete certification; making UL a complete stakeholder for advisory services with wide and deep technical know-how.

Grow and develop our Southern Europe market presence

Our Customers are developers, operators, owners, banks, investors but also OEMs. Being responsible for the development of the Southern Europe markets, you play a key role in identifying, developing and supporting our customers and prospects to satisfy their needs. Your first focus will be on France and North Africa countries. Hence, your job will be to:

• Define business growth plans and execute agreed go-to-market strategies for the sub-region in collaboration with service area leads and EMEA Business Developer Manager;
• Achieve short-term revenue generation and goals for the region;
• Identify prospective new customers and work with service area leads to establish positive business relationships with them. Hand off relationships to service areas when appropriate;
• Represent company at tradeshows, technical conferences and workshops, and business development meetings, as needed;
• Manage key accounts as assigned;
• Support development of a network of local service providers and partners;
• Identify prospective new markets (geographies/products) within the sub-region; define business cases to exploit them. Act as a champion within the organization and work to ensure a successful launch;
• Collaborate with counterparts within the region to identify and exploit synergies;
• Help service area leads maintain positive customer relationships and secure sales within the sub-region. Provide support to service area leads and staff in writing successful proposals that meet client needs and result in profitable and successful projects;
• Acquire, analyze, and disseminate market intelligence;
• Follow “best practices” within the region in terms of commercial activities: communication with customers, meetings, quoting process, conferences, trade shows, etc.
• Coordinate and execute with the marketing team and the service area leads to develop, update, and customize sub-regional activities and collaterals: presentation, brochures, leaflets, webinars, targeted marketing activities, local tradeshows organization, etc.
• Requires frequent travels to customers meetings and regional offices to support local staff and business development as needed (30% - 40% travel).
• Assist with other duties as assigned.

Work independently in an international team

You will be part of the UL Renewables division. From our offices in France (Lyon), you collaborate with our regional team in EMEA but also sometimes with our global team. In this role, some business related collaboration is managed remotely. Therefore, it is important that you enjoy working independently and are prepared to structure your daily work tasks.

Profil recherché

Commercial experience and technical background

To succeed in this role, you have several years of experience driving new business within the field of wind energy consulting – ideally, you have both onshore and offshore wind experience – and solar energy.

Moreover, you have:

• University degree in engineering
• At least 5 years of experience in a similar role for services focusing on wind and solar projects
• Good knowledge of the technical best practices as well as local requirements for wind/solar farm development, construction and operation
• Strong customer focus and strong interpersonal skills to establish trustful relationships, ability to sell and to close orders
• Ability to communicate effectively to customers as well as in-house
• Ability to promote our services to technical and commercial decision makers as well as to engineers evaluating our service
• Fluent in spoken and written French and English. Any additional language will be very appreciated
• Willingness to travel, 30-40% of the time as an estimation
