Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Programme

The aim of the programme is to install sustainable community managed RWSS schemes and train beneficiary communities in health, hygiene, people skills, technical skills and gender awareness, to build up rural community capacity that will add to RWSS scheme ownership and sustainability.

The four main results to be achieved are as follows:

* To implement RWSS schemes as integrated projects at community level, providing rural areas with water supply and sanitation
* To improve capacity assisting communities in building up community capacity through training
* To manage the programme through a PMU including an appropriate progress and monitoring system
* To establish a network linking water supply involving agencies and beneficiaries
