Social scientist - Natural resources et Environment H/F

Description du poste

ACTeon is looking for a dynamic and inspired Social Scientist to join its team. This position requires an excellent team spirit, initiative and autonomous work. The main tasks and activities relevant to the position include:

1. Performing consultancy and research on (innovative) social, governance and public policy issues linked to the development and implementation of environmental policies with emphasis on:
- Perceptions and values attached to the management of ecosystems and to the services these ecosystems deliver
- Social acceptability of policies, strategies and projects addressing environmental issues and concerns
- The assessment of social impacts, and the design of policies and policy instruments that minimize negative social impacts and/or help capturing social benefit opportunities
- Drivers of, and conditions for, changes in behaviour

2. Organising and/or facilitating stakeholder processes that support policy making at different decision-making scales (local, regional, national and EU), with emphasis on:
- The development of strategies for the (active) participation of stakeholders (or the wider public) in decision making
- The development and application of (new) facilitation tools and techniques adapted to different target audiences and policy contexts

3. Contributing to the organisation and facilitation of policy workshops, conferences and trainings for different audiences of stakeholders, decision makers and scientists;

4. Contributing to ACTeon’s information and communication, producing policy reports and dedicated communication material (brochures, policy briefs, guidance documents, interactive web-based platforms, doc-web, serious games...) targeting different audiences of stakeholders, decision makers and scientists;

5. Contributing to the development of new projects & research proposals, with specific support provided to developing new projects and activities in her/his own areas of interest.

Profil recherché

1. Minimum M.Sc. degree in social sciences or public policy with specialisation in environmental issues, or environmental sciences with specialisation in social sciences;

2. At least eight year experience (with proven experience in France) as social scientist, including practical experience in organising and facilitating stakeholder processes. Experiences in consultancy are seen as an advantage;

3. Skills in the collection and analysis of (social) data, mobilising a wide range of tools and techniques (organisation of semi-structured interviews, surveys, focus groups... qualitative & quantitative analytical tools and methods);

4. Very good understanding of the French and EU environmental (water, biodiversity, marine resources, climate change, renewable energy...) policy making (existing regulation and planning processes, main challenges, stakeholders, etc.). A complementary experience in one sector policy (urban planning, transport, agriculture, health, information & communication, innovation....) is seen as an advantage

5. Excellent French and English (written & oral) communication skills, including capacity to facilitate experts & stakeholders workshops in both languages. A third (EU) language is seen as an advantage
