Our Procurement department looks for Group Core Category Manager  CHEMICALS
(Paris la Défense)

As part of the evolution of its Procurement line, SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT intends to strengthen management of purchasing categories, key competitiveness factor for the Group, by positioning Procurement line as a business contributor.

Your scope of intervention concerns Suez Environnement group.

Transversal Group Category Management pursues three objectives: 

• Leverage of the Group external spend on the Category, cross Business Units
• Optimization of Group's external spend in line with business needs, by activating all spend reduction levers (need pooling, demand management, process and specifications optimization, supplier range reduction, innovation and partnerships etc...) aiming at reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO) and maximizing competitive advantage
• Economic and operational performance of major suppliers on the category (management of key suppliers on behalf of the Group)

The Group Category Manager is central to the new organization of transversal Category Management:

• He manages a Category Team, which is both multi-functional and multi-BU, and which monitors the Group spending and defines the strategy in the chosen category
• He is 100% dedicated to Group Category Management on one or more categories
• He has a Group Mandate, including the sole responsibility to represent the Group in relationships and negotiations with suppliers.

Reporting:

• The Group Core Category Manager reports directly to the Group CPO (who appoints him and assesses his performance)
• The Group Core Category Manager is located within a BU (with significant spend on his categories), and reports hierarchically to the BU CPO who acts as a “Sponsor” (please refer to the document “Category Management Gouvernance” for details)

Category Manager position

Group Category management consists in :

• Conducting procurement marketing of category: spend analysis, understanding and analysis of business needs, anticipation of future needs, supplier market analysis and market dynamics;
• Developing procurement strategy and approach strategy towards suppliers on category, activating all spend reduction levers: such strategy is defined in close coordination with the businesses;
• Defining and implementing an action plan to deploy validated strategies. Reviewing strategy in response to changes (market ...);
• Supporting operational entities in the implementation and monitoring of the policy defined for the category;
• Committing on performance and contribution to BU results on the category and steering economic performance (external spend reduction) and supplier performance on the category;
• Reporting and monitoring BU results on the category. 

In this context, for the categories entrusted to him, and with a Group mandate, the Group Category Manager:

• Steers a multi-functional Category Team, composed of Category Lead Buyers, but also of technical experts and users/prescribers of main concerned BUs, to guarantee relevance of analyses, strategy and action plan definition within deadlines;
• Drives / coordinates action plan implementation:
- steers procurement activities, particularly RFPs, selection and negotiations with major suppliers on category (negotiation strategy and negotiation team definition, launch of  RFPs, supplier selection, contracting ... )
- coordinates the monitoring of business actions (eg. standardization , innovations...) and you stand as active support to business;
• Ensures that contracts or purchasing policies are deployed in entities, relying on your category team;
• Communicates regularly with concerned Operational Purchasing Managers, to ensure the ownership of category strategies
• Ensures the management of major suppliers on the category (economic performance, quality, compliance to deadlines, major claims...   Ensures that identified cost reductions are realized and validated by the purchasing controllers or Finance team in the BUs

University technical degree in Procurment

Qualities and Requirements

You are able to bring together a team around you. You have a strong transversal vision, to challenge all spend reduction levers and obtain high level strategies. You know how to manage transversal teams (cross-BUs, cross-functional teams), be a force of proposals to solve problems with technical and economical issues, influence to obtain a shared vision among the Group on topics that may be complex or transversal to several BUs. You have worked in a technical environment. An expertise in Procurement, in particular in negotiation and key supplier management, is ideal.
